    As is illustrated in the table, people’s expense in food drops from 65% of their total income in 2000 to 35% in 2015, while the expenses in clothing, recreation and other items increase from 8% to 17%, from 3% to 10% and from 24% to 38% respectively. Apparently, the items people spend their money on have significantly changed over the years.
    What accounts for the change? In my view, at least three factors contribute to the change. To begin with, the change is closely related to the rising income of people. More importantly, the change has a lot to do with the turning of people’s attitude towards and outlook on life. The bettering policies and the abundant supply of various products and services promote the diversity of people’s expenses.
    Rapid changes of society and people’s outlooks on life renders the change bound to continue for a few years in the future. As far as I am concerned, it’s a positive trend and should be promoted since it is beneficial not merely to individuals but to the whole society.
