The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA) provide low or no-interest loans and grants to countries that have unfavorable or no access to international credit markets.

IBRD lending to developing countries is primarily financed by selling AAA-rated bonds in the world’s financial markets.

IDA is the world’s largest source of interest-free loans and grant assistance to the poorest countries.

The World Bank also provides analysis, advice, and information to its member countries to enable them to achieve the lasting economic and social improvements their people need.

The World Bank helps to create the basic economic infrastructure that is essential for the creation of domestic financial markets and a well-functioning financial industry in developing countries.
