Step 1 Warm-up
1. Greetings: Good morning/afternoon, boys and girls. How are you today?
2. Free talk:
T: What did you do last weekend?
S: I went to the park.
T: Did you play basketball?
S: Yes, I did.
T: Can you play basketball well?
S: No, I can’t.
T: What can you do well?
S: I can swim/dance/sing/draw/play the piano/play chess.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Show the pictures of different activities on the screen.
T: Look at the pictures. What can you see?
S: I can see people swimming/dancing/singing/drawing/playing basketball/playing the piano/playing chess.
2. Teach the new words.
T: Now, let’s learn some new words. Repeat after me.
swim, dance, sing, draw, play basketball, play the piano, play chess.
3. Drill the new words.
T: Let’s practice the new words. I say, you repeat.
4. Play a game.
T: I’ll say a word, and you show me the picture. Ready? Swim. (Show the picture of swimming.) Dance. (Show the picture of dancing.) Sing. (Show the picture of singing.) Draw. 2. Role play.
T: Let’s do a role play. You are A, and I am B. Ask me what I can do.
S: What can you do?
T: I can swim/dance/sing/draw/play basketball/play the piano/play chess. Now, you are B, and I am A.
Step 4 Production
1. Group work.
T: Now, let’s work in groups. You can choose one activity you like and make a poster to show it. You can draw pictures or write some sentences. Then, you can introduce your poster to the class.
2. Show and tell.
T: Who wants to show your poster and tell us about your activity?
S: I do.
T: OK. Please come to the front and show us your poster.
Step 5 Summary and Homework
1. Summary:
T: Today, we’ve learned some new words and the sentence “What can you do?”. Can you tell me what you’ve learned today?
S: We’ve learned swim, dance, sing, draw, play basketball, play the piano, play chess. And we’ve learned the sentence “What can you do?”.
2. Homework:
T: Please write down what you can do and draw a picture to show it. Then, you can talk about it with your friends tomorrow.
