In the past, people used to live in small villages. They grew their own food and made their own clothes. They didn't have much contact with people outside their own village. But today, things are very different. Many people live in big cities. They buy their food in supermarkets and their clothes in shops. They watch TV and use computers. They travel by car, train or plane. They have contact with people from all over the world.
This new way of life has brought many benefits. We can buy things that we couldn't buy before. We can travel and see new places. We can communicate with people who live far away. But it has also brought some problems. Cities are often noisy and polluted. We sometimes feel lonely because we don't know our neighbours. We have to work hard to earn money to buy the things we want.
In the future, things will probably change again. We may live in smaller communities and grow our own food. We may use new technology to communicate with people far away. We may travel less and stay closer to home. But whatever happens, we will always need other people. We will always need to share our lives with others.
